An algorithm to determine linear independence of a set of interval vectors

Abstract
This paper presents an algorithm to determine the linear dependence and independence of a set of interval vectors. The algorithm is developed on the basis of a necessary and sufficient condition for linear independence of an arbitrary interval vector relative to other linearly independent interval vectors. The necessary and sufficient condition can be checked by a linear programming method. Then, the developed necessary and sufficient condition will be employed to check the linear independence of a set of interval vectors. Through numerical examples, the validity of the developed algorithm is illustrated. (C) 2013 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
