Abstract
In today’s era of advanced visual recognition and intelligent perception, Deep Learning (DL) has revolutionized the interpretation of complex visual information. It is particularly significant in the domain of remote sensing imagery providing crucial insights for environmental monitoring, urban planning, disaster response, and national security. The rapid expansion of multi-sensor and multi-resolution imagery has led to a huge increase in visual data, demanding advanced yet efficient computational frameworks. However, traditional deep learning models, despite their accuracy, remain computationally heavy. This dissertation explores the potential of lightweight and adaptable deep learning approaches to address these limitations, aiming to achieve scalable and efficient multi-task visual recognition in remote sensing. The diversity and heterogeneity of remote sensing data from satellites, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and aerial platforms present additional challenges, including scale variation, sensor disparity, and environmental complexity. Differences in viewpoint, illumination, resolution, and spatial details often hinder the generalization ca-pability of visual models. Achieving consistent recognition performance across multiple domains and tasks while being computationally efficient is crucial. To overcome these limitations, this research focuses on developing robust lightweight architectures that ensure optimized performance. This dissertation highlights how efficient deep learning methods can advance interpretable visual understanding in remote sensing tasks. The research is structured into three key chapters: lightweight semantic segmentation network development for urban scene understanding, a lightweight framework for scene classification, demonstrating efficiency and robustness across diverse remote sensing datasets and the adaptability of the proposed backbone to other downstream tasks to establish its versatility and generalization capability across multiple remote sensing applications.
In conclusion, this research signifies the advancement in the field of visual recognition and remote sensing intelligence, offering valuable insights for environmental monitoring, urban planning, and researchers. As remote sensing continues to evolve with diverse sensors and vast imagery, developing efficient deep learning frameworks becomes essential for geospatial analysis. The proposed architectures pave a way for automated scene understanding, multi-domain adaptation, and potential real-time deployment, enabling faster, more interpretable, and resource-efficient analysis of complex remote sensing data.|오늘날의고도화된시각인식과지능형인지시대에딥러닝(DL)은복잡한시각정보 를해석하는방식을혁신적으로변화시켰습니다.
