- Abstract
- Barium titanate and various appropriate crystals are the good candidates for upconversion materials as the host crystal. There is a growing interest in upconversion in many research areas to apply this phenomenon. Nonetheless, the transition of lanthanide-doped upconversion materials is an intra 4f-4f transition of lanthanide ion, which is characterized by a violation of the Laporte selection rule (parity selection rule). These prohibited transition characteristics le`ad to low quantum efficiency and limit application to research fields other than the field of bioimaging research. For this reason, it is necessary to study a intrinsic mechanism for increasing the efficiency of upconversion light emission. In this research, barium titanate were synthesized and their luminescence properties were investigated. In particular, in terms of local crystal structure symmetry, the phase transition dependent upconversion luminescent properties of barium titanate were studied.
