We suggest the edge-located 1D grating polymer encapsulant on the top of the photovoltaic module to provide a strategy for improving solar cell efficiency. The grating is highly preferred to redirect the light toward photovoltaic active areas. In order to offer optimized broadband light diffraction for solar device, we simulate the nano-patterned diffraction grating through wave-optic based simulation. In the experimental results, we demonstrate the enhanced light collection by grating patterned encapsulants with the improved current density compared to that of flat surface.
