1.7-μm swept-source OCT imaging for deep brain tumor margin detection
- Abstract
- In brain tumor surgery, removing tumor with minimal loss is one of ways to reduce unwanted side effect. In order to distinguish the side boundary and depth margin of tumor, we calculated optical attenuation coefficient along the depth direction. With tumor model made on the brain of nude mouse, it was found that the attenuation coefficient of the tumor was 1.8 times larger in 1.3-μm SS-OCT than 1.7-μm SS-OCT. The relative ratio between the tumor and normal tissue, were 1.67 in the 1.3-μm and 2.45 in the 1.7-μm, respectively. The proposed tumor margin detecting method enhanced detecting range of depth margin of tumor and clearly imaged the side boundary between the tumor and normal tissue regions.
