Abstract
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in Korea and worldwide. CVD is a preventable disease that can be sufficiently treated with appropriate intervention at an early stage. In clinical practice, diagnosis is established using coronary angiography, computed tomography, and echocardiography. However, early diagnosis of vascular problems through imaging of a moving heart is quite difficult. Consequently, several early biomarkers related to CVD have been developed to monitor the patient's status properly.
In this study, the antibody microarray is fabricated using a microfluidic technique to detect biomarkers related to CVD, such as CRP, TNF-a, and MCP-1. The antibody array is immobilized on a slide glass by surface modification. The proposed microarray is evaluated by detecting each concentration of the MCP-1. As a result, the microarray chip shows a limit of detection of 54.7 pg/mL. In future, the microarray chip can be applied for multiple CVD-related biomarker detection.
