Abstract
Human health risk that could be originated from undisclosed ingredients in household chemical products (HCPs) has raised the importance of toxicological analysis of unknown compounds in HCPs. A wide range of physicochemical properties of HCPs necessitate the use of different analytical techeniques to cover them. Herein, we analyzed 14 HCPs using GC-APCI- and LC-QTOF-MS/MS for a comprehensive analysis of their ingredients. Untargeted LC-MS/MS analysis of 5 HCPs identified an unreported potential toxicant, erucamide, which was confirmed with a pure standard commercially available. Untargeted GC-APCI-MS/MS analysis of HCPs also tentatively identified other 11 potential toxicants. These results demonstrated the utility of using both GC-APCI- and LC-ESI-MS/MS for comprehensive identification of potential toxicants in non-target analysis of HCPs.
