Optical Physically Unclonable Functions Device Using Random Fibrous Media Fabricated by Electrospinning

Abstract
Optical-based PUFs using a random laser is an attractive researched field, unlike conventional lasers. Random laser has no optical resonator and uses a feedback loop of scattering particles in a random material to randomly emit light. Random lasers are generated through a phenomenon of Anderson light localization generated in a random region when light is strongly scattered through a random medium. However, manufacturing large-area random media that causes random lasing at low cost remains a challenge. In this paper, we propose a method of extracting bits by fabricating an optical PUFs device with random lasing characteristics using electrospinning, which can implement a random structure in a large-area process, and apply it to security devices.
