Electrically Controlled, High On/Off Ratio Active Tamm Plasmons for Photonic Integrated Circuits

Abstract
Here, we presented a high-contrast optical switch by designing it to have strong light-material interaction even introduction of a subtle extinction coefficient. On the other hand, at the reduced state (-1 V), it fully reflects the incident light without any optical loss. Based on this property, we characterized the response tendency corresponding to the pulse stimulation. Furthermore, interestingly, the high- contrast optical modulator showed a hysteresis loop by cyclical write and erase state. Using the function, we showed memory characteristic by alternatingly applying the voltages.
