- Abstract
- Solution chemistry offers flexibility in synthesizing various types of functional nanoparticles, but translating them into industrial applications remains
challenging. This is due to the lack of fast and uniform transfer methods of colloidal nanoparticles into monolayers for device applications. We introduce a scalable nanoparticle transfer method into the 2D-like monolayer within 10 seconds. The electrostatic attraction between the nanoparticle and the target substrate is engineered via protons, efficiently transferring nanoparticles from a micro volume of liquid into a 2-inch wafer as a monolayer with over 40% surface coverage. This coating method can be extended to ‘pick-and-place’ nanoparticle patterning, which can be used for coplanar optical encryption. This
potentially simplifies the application of colloidal nanoparticles for industrial mass-production and device applications.
