Abstract
Achieving color dynamics across the entire visible regime based on plasmonics remains challenging. We here introduce an active chiral plasmonic metasurface, comprising a wafer-scale array of chiral nanohelices grown by the physical shadow growth method and that are encapsulated with a conductive polymer shell
using the solution-based polymerization. Then by electrochemically controlling the redox state of the polymer shell driven by a low operation voltage (< 1V), dynamic changes in plasmonic colors are achieved through the chiral plasmonic metasurface at the wafer-scale. This allows for extended color dynamics with the modulation of light polarization, exploring nearly entire visible colors. The findings highlight its potential in applications such as electrochromic displays and filters.
