- Abstract
- Optically, distinguishing chirality of particles in the racemic state, i.e. a mixture of two opposite chiral particles, remains challenging. Here, we present a differential scattering imaging approach to discriminate chiroptical properties of micro-sized particles in parallel. To demonstrate the feasibility of this imaging
approach, we fabricate micro-sized glass helical structures filled with metallic nanoparticles using physical shadow growth method. These particles are plasmonically active and thus exhibit strong scattering signals in visible while their overall structures are several microns. Thus, under the influence of two left and right circularly polarized lights, these particles show uniform but different scattering signals at the single particle level, enabling the discrimination of their chiral features in a racemic state.
