- Abstract
- We introduce a scalable approach for the production of meterscale plasmonic metasurfaces using a roll-to-roll coating process. A negatively-charged gold nanoparticles dispersed in water are continuously injected through the slot-die module onto the flexible aluminum-coated plastic film, which can attract the nanoparticles electrostatically. We are then able to construct the plasmonic nanoparticle-on-mirror structures with the uniform surface coverage of 1.6 %, thus offering uniform red color across the whole meter-scale surfaces. This roll-to-roll fabrication of large-area flexible plasmonic metasurfaces potentially provides a promising pathway for integrating plasmonics into mass production systems, facilitating widespread industrial applications.
