Facile Synthesis of Well-Defined Macromonomers via Living Anionic Polymerization and Their Ring-Opening Metathesis Polymerization
- Abstract
- The bottlebrush polymers have become interesting issues due to novel useful properties. Ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of norbornenyl macromonomers (MMs) has received attention owing to high MMs conversion and living character. In this case, the quality of MMs is important to achieve well-defined bottlebrush polymers and brush block copolymers (BBCPs). In here, we introduce living anionic polymerization which is robust tools for the precise synthesis of polymers and the incorporation of functionality at the polymer chain end. We developed new a norbornenyl-functionalized terminator as the end-capping with living anionic polymer chain and demonstrated the bottlebrush polymers obtained from these synthetic strategies showed a high degree of polymerization and narrow molecular weight distribution. Finally, we proposed as introducing various types of monomers, it may be useful for the preparation of functional bottlebrush polymers and BBCPs.
