Experimental investigation on muzzle blast affected by air-guiding grooves on bullets

Metadata Downloads
Abstract
Bullet design is related to the muzzle phenomena such as muzzle blast. The muzzle blast which causes the gun recoil can be controlled by a bullet shape. Air-guiding grooves were invented to improve bullet performance. In this paper, effects of the air-guiding grooves were investigated by using a recoil sensor and a high speed camera. Current results indicate that a new design of a bullet with air-guiding grooves is able to control the muzzle blast, which eventually helps to reduce the gun recoil.
