Discovery of health index-related microbiome composition in Korean
- Abstract
- Microbiome and host interact in many aspects. Microbiome diversity is associated with disease status, lifestyle, blood tests of the host. To interpret individual fitness, understanding the association between host characteristics and the microbiome is principal. Here, we identified an association between microbiota and 82 medical indices across 1,832 Korean individuals. We discovered checkup indices accounting for variance of microbiome diversity. We also revealed microbiome species in relevance with the value of each medical index. These results suggest the potential of utilization of microbiome to estimate Korean individual health conditions. By investigating the linkages between anthropometrics, lifestyles, clinical laboratory tests, and microbiome in the Korean population, our results indicate a milestone for future research on Korean fitness-microbiome interactions.
