Abstract
While listening to music, the feeling is one of the essential parts of the human’s emotional activity, which affects listeners to listen to music continuously and repeatedly. Many studies on music experience with multi modalities have been actively conducted; however, the integrated connection between emotions and haptic research cases is insufficient. This paper examined (1) the haptic stimuli effect on musical emotion when participants listen to the music and (2) the affective differences between the pattern of haptics that come from musical elements such as frequency, beat, and pitch. In addition, it was collected feedback through the survey and received an emotional word list, intensity, and arousal coordination value of selected emotion for each stimulus. The analysis of the users’ data shows that listening to music with haptics impacts their emotional experiences. This paper could help the enhancement of musical empathy through the haptic and utilized to design emotional haptic patterns.
