Analysis of Broadband Pulse Radiation from a Conductively Loaded Slot Antenna
- Abstract
- To investigate the function of a conductive loading profile to a slot antenna, the conductively loaded slot (CLS) antenna was designed, analyzed, and compared to an unloaded slot in various aspects of performance associated with broadband pulse radiation. The time-domain performance in this article includes reflected voltage in the feeding transmission line, slot current and voltage distributions, radiated far-zone electric field, fidelity, and the electromagnetic field in the space of the slot periphery. In the frequency domain, reflection coefficient, broadside gain, and radiation efficiency were demonstrated. The relationship between characteristics of the antennas in the time and frequency domains was compared. The CLS was fabricated on a printed circuit board (PCB) and measured based on diverse scenarios. The features of the CLS in short-pulse radiation and reception applications were verified both numerically and experimentally. © 2018 IEEE.
